My completely awesome friend Michael Long, whom some of you [on Twitter] may know as @theredrecruiter, is not only a brilliant recruiter…he’s a very giving and charitable guy! While I’ve known him for less than a year, I can tell you one thing about Michael.
He is one of the most selfless people I know!
And so, not surprisingly, he’s created an incredibly generous charitable project called The Red Shoe Project.
And, to back this up…he personally wears red shoes every single day! If you are in doubt please visit his website for further detail and photographic evidence.
Straight from Michael’s website:
The Red Shoe Project has identified a very worth cause in San Francisco called My New Red Shoes. This wonderful organization contributes to society by clothing underprivileged children for their first day of school. They give children a sense of pride… and we all know how important that is.
For a period of one year from April 2009, the Red Shoe Project, will focus on raising awareness for My New Red Shoes. The goal is to significantly increase the amount of exposure that this deserving organization receives.
What we want is fun, easy and very achievable. We want you to take the most creative picture you can in a pair of red shoes! By yourself, with friends, colleagues, family or any way you think is fun.
Submit your photo (with name and location) to our Facebook group or directly via email.
Michael has just released the June 2009 Red Shoe Project video…check it out…and don’t forget to submit your photo to be included for his July video and personally support The Red Shoe Project!

Stephanie,
Thank you very much for posting about the project on your blog! I really appreciate it.
Red Shoe Project is growing faster than ever. The Facebook group has doubled over the past week and events across the country are starting to pop up. Red Shoe Project happy hours, corporate events, training sessions (BarCamp Recruit). It’s really amazing to watch and participate in.
I’ve decided to make Red Shoe Project a long-term project. Next April, I will select another charity to assist for the period of one year. I’m in the process of making RSP an established 501(c)(3) and putting together a sustainable and scalable plan for the future.
Thank you for helping spread the word!
Looking forward,
Michael
