It started between @Trish_HR and @beneubanks and it’s gained traction: The 2009 HR Blogger Experience. I’m working with Ben Eubanks, Trish McFarlane, Mike Owcarz, and Steve Boese to organize this blogging event.

Straight from the HRevolution website:

The idea came from hearing that traditional conferences may not be addressing HR issues and social media in the way that bloggers do. We’re proposing a 1 or 1 1/2 day “experience,” centrally located in the U.S. where we can come together in a less structured setting. The goal is to share ideas and experiences so that each person leaves knowing more than they came with.

We are open to any ideas on how the event should work – whether it should be short informal presentations, a panel, or a mix of things. You tell us what you think!

If there’s any chance of this actually happening, we need you to help. Tell other HR bloggers (and HR people who should be blogging). Tweet it (#HRevolution). Blog on it. Tell your mom.

You could be the next one to join us in our quest to revolutionize the HR field. We are bloggers, thinkers, creatives, and innovative people with a heart for helping others. This conference experience is going to focus on a few things, but it’s up to you to help us decide what!

Here are a few of the developing ideas so far…

  • The world of HR blogging and what it has to offer you
  • New (and aspiring) HR bloggers
    • Deciding your niche
    • Creating a blog
    • Developing a following
    • Networking with other bloggers
  • Established HR bloggers
    • Dominating your niche
    • Marketing your blog
    • Driving traffic (SEO)
    • Keeping your creative juices flowing
    • Video/podcasting
    • Community blogging

It started as an idea. It’s growing into something more. Want in?

Stay tuned for further details!

This looks interesting. Although I have spent most of my career in HR, my blog is (currently) more related to safety. That has usually been part of the HR function where I work, and was an area where I spent a lot of time. So it’s a niche, not sure you would classify it as an HR niche.
But really, this is a good idea. I have learned a lot just by reading many of the folks you mentioned here.

Thanks for writing the post Stephanie, and I look forward to working with everyone to try and make this happen. We are planning the July 24 episode of the HR Happy Hour show on Blog Talk Radio to be about the HR Blog Conference, and hopefully that will help generate more interest and ideas.

Great idea! I’m glad that I caught one of the tweets about this and look forward to the HR Happy Hour on the 24th. : )
