A fabulous mini-tweetup and my first video blogging attempt ever

Tonight I went to a fabulous mini-tweetup instigated by @ashleyandrus as we’ve been chatting via Twitter for a while now and she was going to be in Atlanta for some client meetings and to run the Peachtree Road Race -- the world’s largest 10K -- this Saturday, July 4, 2009. Wish her luck because that is a dreadful and HOT and disgustingly crowded vile smelly sweaty race and I speak from experience and I have no plans to ever do THAT again.

We met at Top Flr* in Midtown Atlanta and we each invited a few friends. Of course Miriam Salpeter my completely awesome partner in crime was there and I finally got to meet Chris Havrilla IRL! Ashley invited friends Steve and Cheryl who are not yet on Twitter but I am guessing that they may both be back at their respective ranches setting up their very own Twitter accounts as I write this. :-)

Well if I tell you everything you won’t have a reason to watch my video (which might not be such a bad thing) so I’ll shut up.

Please note that this is my very first attempt at video blogging and honestly I had no idea I made such hideous facial expressions when I talk so I’ll be working on that and in the interim don’t be surprised if this post*ahem* disappears.

Oh and also I reserve the right to delete blog posts in random fits of paranoia. Just FYI.

*Top Flr took the pizza that contained the glass chards off our bill. The waiter apologized sincerely but no manager came to speak with us and we were not comped in any way for the life-threatening (I am being serious) incident.

Good for you! Your radio interview the other day was excellent so I think there is a lot of potential for you with v-logs. Isn’t that what they call these?

Have you considered doing any interviews on video?

I can’t even stand to hear myself on video when I’m off-camera. I sound soooo young. So I won’t be following you this far, but I’m so looking into blogging and the social resume idea for my freelance work.

BTW, have you see v-logs at http://www.jacksonpearce.com/

No, this is a great video. Just talking like a human with your own personality is so very refreshing after I’ve sat through a week of Power Point hell at work. :)

Soooo, when will more videos be uploaded!? Happy Independence Day!

Never apologize! Leave this up!

You did very well. Rebecca @modite has some tips for video blogging on her site. I never follow them. I just wing it, so you’re doing a great job.

Really fantastic job and I definitely think you should do some more video blogs, you have a great presence for it.

That was wonderful and no apologies! I enjoyed listening to you and look forward to your next.

Thanks so much to all of you for your very kind words and encouragement! You’ve given me the confidence to try it again, and I will.

Have a Happy 4th!

I thought the video was a good first effort. I like the honesty of blogs (or at least the apparent honesty) and the video is a sort of affirmation of sincerity.
No, I don’t know if “aside from a little crushed glass in the pizza” is exactly a great recommendation…. I’m sort of curious how the glass was discovered and how they treated the customers once it was pointed out.

Hi Tim,

Thank you! And I agree about the honesty and sincerity.

Top Flr took the pizza that contained the glass chards off our bill. The waiter apologized sincerely but no manager came to speak with us. Cheryl discovered the glass because she bit down on a piece of it! We tried to take a twitpic of the glass on the platter with the pizza but it didn’t turn out.
